20 Basic SEO Tips To Supercharge Your Website
Hey guys, first of all I’d like to apologize for not posting in so long. I was busy with exams and stuff, but they’re now over, so you can expect lots of new posts soon
. Anyway, I thought I’d post some seo tips to help you website gets indexed and ranked, since a lot of people have asked me for this. They are quite basic and include both on-page seo and off-page seo tips, but they are important and helpful nevertheless.
The SEO Tips
(in no particular order)
- Title Tags: Use your keywords in your title tag, and make sure you have a unique title tag for every page. If you’re using WordPress, download the All in One Seo Pack Plugin.
- Decide between the www and non www versions of your site, and redirect one of them to the other. Here’s a guide showing you how to do that. Use the Redirection plugin to manage all your redirects, if you are using WordPress.
- Create a Sitemap: If you’re using WordPress, use the Google XML Sitemaps Plugin. If you have a static site, use this tool to generate a Sitemap.
- Submit your Sitemap to Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
- Put your keywords in the H1, H2 Tags
- Include your keywords in the url of the page. If you’re using WordPress, change your permalinks to include the %postname%
- Link to other relevant pages in your site. When doing so, include your keyword in the anchor text, rather than ‘click here’. If you’re using WordPress, use a related posts plugin.
- Optimize your images, by giving them relevant names, and using the alt tags to describe your image(while including some keywords of course
) - Check for broken links and correct them. If you’re using WordPress, use this plugin.
- Make sure your site’s HTML and CSS is valid
- Ping your site using pingomatic. Here’s the ping list I use with WordPress. Go to Settings>Writing and add them in the update services box.
- Bookmark your site at Digg, StumbleUpon and Propeller. If you want to bookmark your site on more sites, use a free tool like Onlywire or SocialMarker
- Burn your feed, using feedburner.
- Submit your rss feed to rss directories. Two good ones are: Feedage and Feedagg. Here is a list of 35 RSS Directories.
- Write a couple of articles in your niche, and submit them to EzineArticles and GoArticles. Include a link back to your site in the resource box
- Submit you website to DMOZ. Also submit your website to some niche directories.
- Find some large forums in your niche and participate in them. Include a link to your site in your forum signature. Visit Big Boards to find niche forums. This method is great for driving targeted traffic too.
- Comment on niche blogs, preferably dofollow. Use dofollowdiver to find dofollow blogs.
- Find some authoritative sites in your niche that are looking for guest bloggers or accepting articles, and write an article for that site. They will generally allow you to include a link back to your site. For some lists of blogs accepting guest posts, go here, here(design blogs), here or here.
- Join Identi.ca. It’s like twitter, but its dofollow. Also, every update appears on the front page for a (very) little while. Post a link to your site in a status update there, and ping the page. This technique is especially good for getting new sites/pages indexed.

It’s quite strange when you say that people need to use keywords on anchor text and you do not do the same.
Look at your post and see how many links are there on “here”, “click here”. It just does not look good
